To print a label, choose Print (Apple-P) from the file menu. If your label consists of two parts that are not connected, such as the front and back labels of a CD Label that need to be cut out separately, then the following options will appear in the print dialog box.
Print Front Label - Allows you to enable/disable printing of the front label.
Print Back Label - Allows you to enable/disable printing of the back label.
Print Both Labels to One Page - To save paper for labels with two covers, this allows you to print both front and back labels onto one page instead of printing them onto separate pages. When this option is selected, the crop marks that normally appear around the printed label will not be printed.
If you are printing a label that is only one physical piece, such as a Zip or Jaz label, then these options will not appear. Note that even though Zip and Jaz labels have a “front” and a “back” label, the front and back sections are connected by the rotated title text, so they only print out as one label which you fold to cover the front and back of the case.
Certain labels that are very large, such as SyQuest EZ and Jaz labels, and the CD front cover, require that your printer be in landscape mode. If you have not selected this orientation, the Ultimate Label Printer Pro will bring up the Page Setup... dialog box and ask you to change this option. Since the printer settings are saved you will only have to do this once. Currently there is no way to automate the Page Setup... orientation selection on the Mac OS without using Quickdraw GX, which is no longer supported by Apple.
To get an exact preview of the printed output, choose Print Preview... (Apple-Shift-P) from the file menu. This will give a perfect representation of the printed output. This is sometimes necessary because many fonts are displayed differently on the screen than they are on the printer, so they may appear slightly larger or smaller on the printer.
Paper Selection
To make labels that easily fit into their cases, try using paper that is firmer than standard copy paper. I recommend Hammermill LaserPrint as an inexpensive alternative to some of the higher priced ink-jet and laser printer papers on the market today.
